Metal rings concentrate stress at two small contact points — the tips where the ring closes. Under repeated use, those tips bend, the gap widens, and pages start catching and tearing. The mushroom buckle works differently: a single-piece PP/ABS clip that snaps across a T-profile hole, spreading load across the full clip width. There's no gap, no stress concentration, no bending.
The clip is embedded into the cover by ultrasonic welding — not riveted, not glued. The bond holds through 10,000+ open/close cycles at temperatures down to −10°C with no loosening or delamination. Punch holes are stamped by a full-sheet one-shot die: all holes produced simultaneously in a single stroke, mould tolerance ±0.05 mm. What is loose leaf paper — and is it the same as filler paper?+
Loose leaf paper and filler paper refer to the same product: pre-punched, individually removable sheets designed to sit inside a ring or clip binding rather than being permanently sewn or glued. Every sheet can be added, removed, or rearranged independently — the feature that makes loose leaf notebooks useful as repositionable planners, refillable study books, and customisable organiser systems. In JANXI's mushroom buckle system, the filler paper uses a T-profile punch hole — slightly wider than a conventional round hole — so each sheet snaps into the clip mechanism cleanly rather than sliding onto a ring. This means the paper is not interchangeable with standard round-hole ring binders, but it holds more securely and releases more cleanly than round-hole paper on a spring ring.
What loose leaf paper sizes do you produce, and what are the standard dimensions?+
Standard production sizes are A5 (148×210 mm), B5 (176×250 mm), A4 (210×297 mm), and 48K (97×138 mm — a compact Chinese format popular in pocket and EDC markets). All four are held as standing die configurations with no tooling delay. Custom dimensions are available with a bespoke die cut: for ODM orders the die is included at no separate charge. What ruling formats are available — college ruled, wide ruled, graph paper?+
Standard formats: college ruled loose leaf paper (7 mm), wide ruled loose leaf notebook paper (8.7 mm), narrow ruled (6.35 mm), lined loose leaf paper in any of these spacings, 5 mm square grid, 5 mm dot array, and blank. All are standing configurations with no custom layout charge. Custom layouts — non-standard spacing, mixed-page formats, bullet journal spreads, music stave, language study, coding templates — are available from your AI, PDF, CDR, EPS, or PSD file at 300 dpi minimum. Minimum offset print line width is 0.075 mm. Multilingual layouts including Arabic RTL fully supported.
Can loose leaf filler paper be ordered as a standalone refill without the cover?+
Yes — JANXI produces filler paper as a standalone refill product, punched and packaged without a cover, for buyers who sell replacement paper packs separately. Standard filler packs contain 80–90 sheets. Reinforced filler paper with Mylar polyester strip around each hole is also available as a standalone refill. We can also produce 3 hole punched loose leaf paper with round holes for US standard binder compatibility as a separate paper-only product. What does reinforced loose leaf paper mean, and when should I specify it?+
Reinforced loose leaf paper has a Mylar (biaxially oriented polyester film) strip laminated around each punch hole before punching. This converts the hole edge from raw paper — which tears progressively — to a composite paper-polyester edge that resists tearing even with heavy daily use. Specify it for school notebooks, workbooks, or any product where users frequently remove and reinsert pages. We offer hole-area-only reinforcement (narrow strip around the punch) and full-edge reinforcement (strip running the full binding margin). Full-edge gives the highest tear resistance.
Is the paper acid-free? Will fountain pens bleed through?+
Standard paper is neutral-sized at pH 7.0–8.5, meeting the acid-free definition — it won't yellow or turn brittle over time. On 100 g wood-free paper, double-sided bleed is below 5% for gel, rollerball, and most fountain pen inks under normal writing pressure. For marker-heavy applications, 120 g is available with confirmed zero show-through on the reverse side. Third-party bleed test reports (SGS or TÜV) are available on request and can be included in your sample shipment at no charge.
What surface finishes and hot stamping options are available?+
Cover surface finishing options include matte laminate, gloss laminate, and UV spot coating (10–20 µm layer, ≥50 rub cycles without adhesion failure). Hot stamping uses imported KURZ series electroformed aluminium foil in gold, silver, matte gold, matte silver, red gold, black, white, and laser/holographic. Custom foil colours available to Pantone reference. Embossing and debossing use brass plate, press depth 0.2–0.5 mm adjustable. Edge finishing (brush or spray) uses UV ink, colour-fast and rub-resistant, any Pantone colour. All inks, laminates, and coatings are REACH SVHC screened and EN71-3 tested, third-party reports available.
Are bookmark ribbons available, and what are the options?+
Yes — bookmark ribbons are available in polyester, cotton webbing, and satin. Standard widths are 6 mm, 8 mm, and 10 mm. Colour is customisable to Pantone reference. Ribbon ends can be finished as diagonal cut, heat-sealed flat, or with a metal or plastic tip clip. Single or double ribbon configurations are both available. Ribbon is attached at the spine binding point during cover assembly — not as a post-assembly add-on.
What is the minimum order, and what does 500-unit ODM include?+
Standard catalogue products — existing designs with logo print or colour swap only — MOQ 2,000 units. Full ODM orders, changing cover material, inner page ruling, buckle colour, hole count, or any structural element — MOQ 500 units. At 500 units, the following are included without a separate tooling fee: custom cover material and finish, custom inner page ruling from your artwork file, custom buckle colour, custom hole count (6/8/10/11), and custom size via bespoke die. The 500-unit tier is designed for range testing, seasonal launches, and private-label first orders — to validate market response before a larger run.
How does quality control work, and what happens if there's a problem after delivery?+
Quality control operates at three stages. At inbound (IQC), all paper and ink is screened by third-party lab, including XRF and spectroscopic analysis for heavy metals and FSC compliance. During production (IPQC), sampling runs every 2 hours to GB/T 2828.1-2012 AQL standard — hole spacing, binding torque, surface adhesion, colour delta. Before shipment (OQC), a signed QC report is issued per ISO 9001 procedure. Defect rate is controlled below 2%; AI-assisted vision inspection reduces defects a further 40% versus manual-only.
